Ang’s children moved by tributes to their father

His second son Yan Hai, 52, said it was a very emotional experience for him when he spoke to his father's students who were now his friends.
“Many of them came to pay their last res- pects and even related memorable stories about my father,” he said.
Yan Hai said his father had been a teacher at the Batu Pahat High School for more than 30 years and taught Art and English.
“I will always remember my father as being an honourable man who had high moral values
“He also loved classical music. We are now playing some of his favourite Beethoven pieces as more people come to pay their respects,” he said.
Yan Hai, who is also a teacher, said his 87-year-old father passed away peacefully early Friday morning.
He left behind wife Tan Swee Siam, two sons, four daughters and five grandchildren.
In Tangkak, Dr Chua said he had conveyed his condolences to Ang's family.
He described Ang's death as a great loss as he was one of those teachers who really cared for his students.
“He was a very good man and a dedicated teacher who taught me for three years at the Batu Pahat High School.
“It was about 40 years ago but I still remember him,” he said before holding a closed-door meeting with the Ledang MCA division leaders at a restaurant here yesterday.
DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang said Ang “would be fondly remembered by his students”.
“He was one of my teachers. He taught me Art which was not one of my best subjects.
“He was also my form teacher during my early secondary years in Form One,” he said.
Another former student of Ang is Berjaya Corp Bhd founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan.
