Thought I let everyone know that we survived the strom and we're ok in case you've seen news about the thunderstorm in Perth on Monday 22nd March. Thanks to Bee Seng for your concern. I replied your email but can't get through.
It was indeed a freaking thunderstorm. Fortunately Sau and myself were back at home early that day when it happened. The children were caught on the way home but thank God they were not at the worst hit areas. It was rather scary. For a moment I thought our house would be blown away in the storm. We do have thunderstorms in Perth occasionally but never seen one of this magnitude in my 23 years here.
We only had minimal damage to the outside of the house which is covered by insurance. We had no electricity for more than 12 hours, so candle-light dinners for us all.
Many schools were closed for a week. It's a pity my school didn't get blown away in the storm. So back to work the next day.

Glad u r all safe. The hailstones looks menacing enough - tennis ball size. Can't imagine the hits with just a few balls.

The picture of the hailstones were on the front page of the STAR: did not realise the impact of the storm, glad you and your family are safe, Bee Kheng.
The destruction from the hailstones were just unbelievable. My son has a few dimples on his car. He's been lucky.
